With over 20 years of diving experience on Cozumel and after carefully evaluating the history and safety record of most dive operators on the island; we came up with the obvious choice to recommend for SCUBA diving.

Over the years, Cozumel diving operations have evolved quite a bit. The boats are faster, many dive operators try to fit two groups into a day, they go to the closest reefs to conserve gas (the best reefs for SCUBA diving are further south). Also, many dive operations load up the boats with large numbers of divers, take people to the beach clubs so they can get a commission on what you eat (and you have to pay for lunch). Many dive operators only give you water on the boat and sometimes soft drinks. The price range of a 2 tank dive is between $60.00 and $75.00 USD (and sometimes more).

Aquatic Sports has been doing business on Cozumel for more years then I have been around. My first dive here was in 1982. Sergio Sandoval (the owner of Aquatic Sports) was one of Jacques Cousteau's favorite people when he was doing research here. Sergio's daughter was taught to swim by Tarzan (not joking; Johnny Weismiller). She still holds the record for the fastest swim to the mainland from Cozumel. Many others have tried and failed miserably!

Sergio uses a "slow boat". They only do one trip a day. They go to any reef you want; and will be happy to tell you the best reefs to maximize your experience. No matter how far away from the harbor it is! Sergio has been servicing the dive community for over 35 years. He knows how to evaluate your lever of experience and will put together a set of dives that will match perfectly with your individual needs.

Aquatic sports will only take small groups. They will take you to a deserted beach for your surface interval and serve you a GREAT lunch (which you do not pay extra for); with all the soft drinks and water you want. Best of all, they charge $65.00 per person, for a two tank dive.
